1.    When did you first realise you wanted to be a writer?

I’m not sure I did. I’ve always been a daydreamer and avid reader. Whenever I’ve felt stressed. I’ve turned to writing stories, as a way of organising my thoughts. Many stories have been thrown away. My husband suggested in 2011, I try to get my work published.

 
2.    In what kind of environment do you work best in?

Very quiet, with no music or television in the background. 


3.   Do you ever base your characters on people you know?

Yes! I call it the Frankenstein method. I’m very naughty like that! I take a personality flaw of someone I know quite well, but I’ll change their age, sex, situation and name and see where it takes me.


4.   Do you plan out your books or do you just go with the flow?

My books are very character driven. I have a very clear picture of my main characters but a very loose idea of plot.


5.  If you could ask a character from any book a question, who would it be and what would you ask?

Heathcliffe, how did you make your fortune?”


6.   Who is your favourite author?

Val McDermid. I love everything she writes, especially, TheWire In The Blood, series.


7.  What’s your favourite genre?

Mystery/Crime. I’m fascinated both by how ordinary people behave in extreme circumstances and how and why people become disturbed and evil. I love trying to guess the guilty party.

 
8.   What’s next for you?

I’m working on a third DCI Hatherall mystery. After that I’ll probably write another stand-alone novel.


9.  What advice would you give to someone just starting out?

Write the books you want to read and about things you feel passionate about.


10.    If you wrote an autobiography about yourself what would you call it?

A tragic comedy of errors.


11.   What’s your favourite season and why?

I love being outdoors. All seasons have good and bad points. If pushed, I’d say early autumn, when the leaves start to change colour.


12.  Do you have a nickname?

For some reason, I’ve had loads over the years. Ones I can remember are, MiMi, Jack, Moppy, Mrs Lucky and Ria.


13.   How do you handle writers block?

Keep the phrase, “You can’t edit a blank page,” clearly in my mind and just write. The beauty of writing now, is how easy it is to delete, edit or copy and paste. 


14.    If you weren’t a writer what would your dream job be?

I would love to have the talent to produce world class young horses. As a child I dreamt of winning The Badminton Horse Trials.


15.   Would you prefer a quiet night in or a night on the town?

A quiet night in. Even in my twenties, I preferred an evening in a village pub with a few friends rather than partying.


16.   If you could go back in time what one piece of advice would you give yourself?

Accept that some people simply won’t like you, so don’t waste time trying to please them. Concentrate on liking yourself and being with people who accept the real you.


17.    What’s the craziest thing you’ve ever done?

When I was 17 years old, I got onto a plane to America, knowing nobody, with just a name and address of someone who’d meet me at O’Hara airport, Chicago. It was a fabulous year, by sheer luck. 


18.   If you could have any super power what would it be and why?

The ability to force people to be honest with themselves and others. Unhappiness and complications are caused too frequently by pointless dishonesty.



Bells On Her Toes

DCI Peter Hatherall is called in to investigate a shooting on the Earl of Ditchburn’s country estate. The Earl’s activities have angered animal rights and environmental groups but subsequent deaths suggest Elmsgrove Racehorse Yard is the target. JM Alvarez, is a Filipino Civil Engineer and a Catholic almost since birth.

1. When did you first realise you wanted to be a writer?
About two years ago while I was attending mass, an inner voice told me to write a book defending my faith.

2. In what kind of environment do you work best in?
I like to work in a quiet place near the window with no distractions.

3. What's your favourite thing about being a writer?
Knowing that I can express my own views freely.

4. How did you come up with the idea for your latest book?
While watching religious programs on TV, I noticed other Christian denominations attacking the Catholic Church, based on their wrong perceptions.

5. What do your family and friends think about your book/s?
They're very supportive and very proud of my book. My school mates think that my book will be a legacy in our school.

6. Who is your favourite author?
My favorite author is Ian Fleming, writer of James Bond novels.

7. What’s your favourite genre?
I love suspense thrillers.

8. What’s next for you?
It would be more of the same, non-fiction with religious tone to inspire others persevere on their faith in God.

9. What’s your favourite movie?
"The Sound of Music" is a feel-happy movie with great cinematography.

10. If you were stranded on an island which three items could you not live with out?
Water, food and someone to talk to.

11. If you could be born in another time when would you choose and why?
1 BC, so I can meet Jesus Christ and listen to Him.

12. If you wrote an autobiography about yourself what would you call it?
The Ordinary Defender

13. What’s your favourite season and why?
The Christmas season because it seems that people are nice to everyone. At least in our country.

14. What’s your favourite writing snack/ drink?
Tuna sandwich with pineapple juice.

15. How do you cope with distractions?
I just wait until it quiets down.

16. What would be your ideal holiday?
Austria.

17. If you weren’t a writer what would your dream job be?
My dream job would be an astronaut.

18. Sweet or sour?
Sweet.

19. What three words best describe you?
Funny, friendly and faithful.

20. What your fondest childhood memory?
Vacationing in my home province.

21. Would you prefer a quiet night in or a night on the town?
Quiet night.

22. What has been the best day of your life so far?
When my daughter was born.

23. If you could go back in time what one piece of advice would you give yourself?
Do things one at a time.

24. Do you believe in fate?
Fate is irreversible and what God has in store for us cannot be undone.

25. If you could be any animal in the world what would you be and why?
An albatross, so I can travel far and see the world in different colors than humans.

26. What was the last thing that made you cry?
When I saw the movie Guardians of the Galaxy, I cried with laughter.

27. If you could have any super power what would it be and why?
Healing power, so I can heal all sick persons in the world.

28. If you only had one more day to live how would you spend it?
I'd watch my favorite movies.

29. For many of us writing is not our full time job, what is yours?
I am a Civil Engineer.



Debunking Misconceptions About Catholicism
A Layman’s Defense

In seeking knowledge, we use our minds, but in seeking the true meaning of our lives, we must use our hearts.

There are many books that defend the Catholic faith but most are ineffective in conveying God's very simple message to the ordinary Catholic layman. Guinevere Equihua




About Guinevere
Guinevere is the world's top assassin who can make contraptions better than MacGyver. She eats Lucky Charms for breakfast to feel fabulous! Just kidding. She's actually just a normal college student, who parades around as an artist by day, and writer at night. Her love for writing developed at a young age when she began her first novel that was later completed at twenty-one. She hopes for women to read her books as a means to escape from reality, and perhaps find a place in their hearts for her characters. Guinevere resides in bipolar Riverside, California sipping on Kiwi-Strawberry Arizonas.

1.    When did you first realise you wanted to be a writer?
I think when I was twelve. Yeah, twelve because that was when decided to try my hand at writing, and thus started my first book. 

2.    What's your favourite thing about being a writer?
Seeing my fans reactions. I have a few that e-mail me personally or through wattpad and give me feedback on what they think of my work and characters. It’s actually a really stupendous feeling!

3.    How did you come up with the idea for your latest book?
Hm… well, I remember that I had once read a quote by Toni Morrison, and it read: “If there's a book that you want to read, but it hasn't been written yet, then you must write it.” And from there, everything fell into place.

4.    Do you ever base your characters on people you know?
Sometimes. If I feel that the character needs a little more ‘umph’ then I will start thinking about who would be perfect to base them off.

5.    What do your family and friends think about your book/s?
My family doesn’t know I write, actually. I haven’t had the courage to tell them yet. I think it’s because there’s still a bit of me that will feel judged. But perhaps one day… one day.

6.    Do you plan out your books or do you just go with the flow?
Go with the flow. I’m sure that I’ve planned out a few scenes or characters, but most of the time I’m just typing away whatever comes to mind at that point.

7.    Who is your favourite author?
Oh boy… I have to many! There are a few on wattpad whose writing just blows my mind! I know one of them is Nicole Sturgill. The first book of hers that I read was The McEllis Boys and I fell in love with her writing.
8.    What’s your favourite genre?
To be honest, I like reading a lot of young adult because of the stories that felt so real. Through my teenage years I lived vicariously through them, haha.
9.    What’s next for you?
I don’t really know… that’s a really good question. Perhaps I’ll finish writing my BOC series and then try my hand at young adult novels? We shall see what the future holds.
10.    What advice would you give to someone just starting out?
Be patient. And keep writing. Just because no one has reviewed your story, doesn’t mean it isn’t being read. The perfect audience will slowly come thy way.
11.    What’s your favourite movie?
Eep! Sweet pepperonis… sigh. Again, I have too many. But the one that I can watch over and over until my laptop dies is Can’t Hardly Wait. One of my favourite movies of all time, aside from Pride and Prejudice, of course.

12.    If you were stranded on an island which three items could you not live without?
1. My iPod. 2. A notebook to write my stories. And 3. A book titled ‘How to Build a Raft’

13.    Do you have a nickname?
I have many. Some are due to my writer’s alias, but some don’t even make sense. But I think the most common ones are: Gia, Gigi, and Gwen.
14.    How do you handle writers block?
Very carefully. Just kidding! I usually have my iPod handy so I can listen to different music that will help my creativity flowin’, plus, I order jalapeƱo-pepperoni pizza. That’s the stuff right there for a writing snack slash block breaker.

15.    How do you cope with distractions?
I’m pretty good with tuning them out. I’ve had lots of practice throughout the years. When I can’t, I have to take a walk through a woodsy area. Or I go on YouTube for a few hours.

16.    If you weren’t a writer what would your dream job be?
Acting. I always wanted to be in a movie. Actually…  I still do.

17.    Sweet or sour?
Sour patch: the best of both worlds. But since I have to choose one… I would say sour. I get to make funny faces that way.
18.    What three words best describe you?
Sarcastic, witty, and artistic.

19.    Do you believe in fate?
Oddly enough, I do. But I guess it comes with being a writer who writes romances based on fate. But I think fate isn’t just limited to romance. I mean… I was able to publish a book. Something that I never thought would happen!
21.    What was the last thing that made you cry?
I was on YouTube and took the “Bet You Will Cry” challenge watching the first two minutes of our soldiers coming home. I’m sorry, but NO ONE can go through those videos without tearing up.

22.    For many of us writing is not our full time job, what is yours?
I’m still in college right now, so a student would be my full-time job, but I am also a student assistant for the engineering department at my school.




Barriers Of Commitment

Nathan Henry thinks of no one but his family.
He hasn't more so then the moment he gave up going to an ivy league school to support them. With a catatonic mother, a blind sister, and a fifteen year old brother on the verge of being thrown out of their home, Nathan has to work twice as hard (and away from his family) to put their lives back together.
He is dependent on his occupation as a respected special military agent. The most important and wealthy people pay for his service to protect them at private events and such. It pays well and feeds the mouths his father and two older brothers left behind. It's a job that he has put his life on for time and time again, but manages to come out on top every time.
After returning from a physically draining assignment, another opportunity from the most wealthiest man known arises. Instead of looking forward to a hot shower and weeks of catching up with Z's, Nathan is pushed to take on this assignment that would, in its completion, pay him handsomely.
The assignment?
Escort the power-hungry and wealthy man's daughter to her intended. Sounds simple enough.
But Nathan could not have been more wrong. He was not expecting the young heiress to come in the form of Mara Hallden.
Mara knows only the life of isolation; growing up in a mansion all by herself and having seen her father only four times in her twenty-one years and now he expects her to be married off to a man she's never met!
The heiress only dreams of her freedom to do as she pleases and she alone is enough to make Nathan want to take on other dangerous assignments instead, like raiding foreign bombers and rescuing hostages from bank stick ups.
With much persuasion (perhaps more like force) from his younger siblings, Nathan will have to hold onto his pride and try to win over this blue-eyed princess.
She will be his greatest, most stressful, and mind-blowing assignment yet.

Messing around

I know I should be citing Life straight up but today I started writing book three. In fact in even managed to finish the prologue. As well as that I have also been playing around with cover ideas for book three and In heat. Obviously they just ideas and drafts but perhaps they could become more. Who knows?

Getting some work done

Right so I can't get any editing done until tonight. Not until my other half has gone to work, as he has kidnapped the laptop. So once little lady has had her nap I think I'll work on the next chapter of Life straight up. I've been dying to work on the next chapter, I've just been so busy getting Life on the rocks ready.
