About JL Snyder
Jeffrey (JL) Snyder can be referred to as what many call a late bloomer. Sparked by words of encouragement from his high school English teacher, Snyder learned he had a knack for writing. By not immediately acting upon those words, the flames that were ignited so long ago flickered within him for many years. There came a point in his life when they almost extinguished. That all changed when God blessed him with an angel. She reignited the flames within him with love, motivation and support. Luckily, he can now call that angel his wife.
Snyder is an avid reader of fiction as well as comic book/graphic novel fiction. Many of the books that line his shelves are written by top author/artists Doug Tennapel, Michael Avon Oeming and Jeff Lemire. He is a self taught artist who is also fond of the Japanese Manga style of drawing. As a writer of fiction, Snyder enjoys walking in the footsteps of the characters he creates. Battle Cry is his first novel.
Snyder earned a Bachelor's Degree in Creative Writing from the University of Texas at El Paso. He is currently pursuing his Master's Degree
1. How many books do you plan to write in the Battle Cry series?
This is it. I originally only intended to make Battle Cry a two volume series. But, that doesn't mean that this is the end of Kaí-Ling's adventures. Who knows what the future holds. We could possibly see her again.
2. When is Shadow of the Sword going to be available to buy?
Battle Cry 2 Shadow of the Sword will be released on August 25, 2015. It will be available at Amazon.com, barnesandnoble.com, Google books, iBook, and many other fine book retailers.
3. So far what has the reaction of readers been to Battle Cry?
Very positive. Earlier this spring, I visited a middle school for a presentation and book signing, the positive reception and support I received was awesome! The students and teachers loved Battle Cry. They can't wait for Battle Cry 2 Shadow of the Sword to be released.
4. Do you have any plans for any more books outside of the Battle Cry series?
Yes, I am already shopping around a children's picture book series I have written. I'm also writing a comic book 1970's style police drama with a twist.
5. What do you love most about the Battle Cry series?
I love the characters, especially Kaí-Ling. Despite all that she has been through in her life and her growing development as a Samurai, she is still a teenage girl. It is that innocence that continues to shine throughout the series.
